Couch to 5km MythBusting

Let's dispel a few myths:

🙅🏽‍♀️ Myth #1: "I have to 'be a runner' to do this event."

Incorrect. If you have 2 legs and a heart then you can participate in this training program and event with us. Actually; you can probably do it with one leg as well! The Mother's Day Classic is for every man, woman, dog, child, scooter, wheelchair, or pair of crutches who wants to be part of something bigger than themselves and do something fun in life. You DO NOT have to have had any running experience to partake in our 7 week training program - in fact, we have specifically written one of the programs to suit all of our absolute-no-running-experience-novices! So scratch that excuse!

🙅🏽‍♀️ Myth 2: "How embarrassing, I'll probably come last on the day."

Not a realistic thought. We're willing to bet good money that you will not be the last person on the track. This event attracts thousands of people from all walks of life (see point #1 above) and many of these people are several decades younger or older than you. Give yourself a bit of cred and separate facts from feelings: you won't be the last person out there - even if you walk the whole thing. Which leads us to point #3 below:

🙅🏽‍♀️ Myth #3: "I don't think I'll be able to run the whole 5km so I can't sign up."

Guess what: YOU DON'T HAVE TO! This training plan and event is not about running the whole way, or even about jogging the whole way! It's about challenging yourself to push outside your comfort zone and be better than you were yesterday. It's you vs you. If today; you can't jog for 30sec on and 3min off: and then after executing the training plan you CAN do that: then you have WON!

We'll let you in on a little secret: see Tom running in the photo above ? Nobody runs at that intensity for the whole event. Nobody. And as much as he'd like to think he did; Tom definitely didn't either! Everyone jogs or walks the majority of the distance and just sprints the last 100m True story.

See the second photo here? The one where we are smiling and laughing and having fun? That's more like the vibe we're going for This plan and event is about having fun with your fellow teamsters and partaking in something you can be proud of for a very worthy cause.

So push the worry thoughts to the back of your brain and take a leap of faith in yourself and in us. We promise you won't be sorry you did.
